At 4:30 PM, one of the five other boys he was playing with set off the motion sensor that activated the gate to rise.
According to ABC News, rescue crews were forced to cut the metal surrounding McDaniels, who was hanging from his waist, in order to get him out.
It took 20 minutes to get McDaniels down, but he was immediately pronounced dead at the hospital.
