Tuesday morning, a 4-foot California Kingsnake was found by Allen Shepard in the bathroom’s toilet in his Staten Island apartment.

Shepard was brushing his teeth when he saw something moving in the toilet.

When he saw the snake staring back at him, he came out of the bathroom, closed the door, and got a broom because, according to Shepard, the snake was “getting up on top of the rim, ready to strike.”

According to The Huffington Post, when the snake attacked Shepard’s broom, Shepard called his super, who then proceeded to call the owner of the Mariners Habor-based 1-800-CLOGGED Response Service Group, Kenneth Rosenthal.

Rosenthal got the snake in a cooler after he pulled all four feet of the snake out of the toilet and put it in a cooler, at which point a neighbor volunteer to take the snake to a Manhattan sanctuary.
