44-year-old Australian Glen Folkard has a scar to show as a trophy for escaping a shark attack by riding a wave to safety.
According to Physorg, Folkard was beyond the breakers north of Sydney at Redhead Beach when a 10-foot bull shark knocked him from his board and pulled him under water.
The Aussie caught a break when the monster released him for a moment, and he climbed atop his surfboard and rode a wave back to shore and safety.
He says he felt lucky to be alive as he lay on the beach after losing more than four pounds from the bite taken from his leg.
